The purpose of ground cover is to take up the space in between your plants to protect the soil from drying out in the sun, and to prevent weeds from growing up. 🌱 When soil is exposed to direct sunlight at the peak daylight hours, it causes it to dry out, making it inhospitable to fungi and worms. Every couple of days I move my cows into a new paddock and set up new electric fencing lines. By controlling when they move, the grass can get eaten to a more complete level so that the most palatable baby grass is always active and regrowing. 🌱

Went longan picking today. If you’ve never had one, it’s like a lychee but the taste is sweeter with more caramel notes. It’s for sure one of my favorite fruits we get here in Hawaii. 🩵
