Fun MR. Poindexter fact: so he's a physicist & engineer (we met when we were both engineers at Intel), but in physics graduate school, his research was on advanced radar systems, electromagnetics and millimeter waves at a top secret government laboratory. His lab (not him, but like the overall lab) built the technology of those x-ray machines in the airport you stand in and they see thru your clothes. It's actually not x-rays, it's millimeter waves (similar to microwaves), pretty safe. But he says they can absolutely see thru your clothes as if your clothes were made of saran wrap, perfectly transparent. When they were introduced, a lot of privacy advocates objected since you're basically naked, and the TSA made a lot of fuss that that wasn't true. My husband said "nah. It's absolutely true. You look totally naked in front of a millimeter wave camera"🤣 Extra fun fact: he says you can use a Sony camcorder with night shot mode on in broad daylight but with a filter on the lens (I think to preferentially admit infrared?) and you can get a similar effect.
