Btw, it's really common for engineers to be enamored with the technology (no hate on engineers of course, I'm an engineer), even if it doesn't make business sense. It's actually the crux of what I do - engineers generally don't consider the market needs, and marketers can't even understand engineering, so it sorta takes skill in both fields to decide company strategy & direction. But the skills are exactly the opposite. Marketers talk out their ass with no data all the time, it's a job requirement actually. Engineers are trained to never proceed without all the data and all the plans - if not, rockets blow up on the way to the moon, it's a job requirement So running a technology company is a weird mix of guessing and making stuff up at the same time proceeding with reasonable data and what is technologically possible. Anyway...so that's kinda what I do. It's stressful! (...and that's why I need side BFs and extra sex and lots of champagne 😆)
